The "Nouvelle" series, named after the French word for "new."

This long wallet was designed from scratch to create a new standard for Philosophy's long wallets.

A compact wallet designed to fit into small bags and cater to the trend toward a cashless lifestyle.

The small zippered long wallet "Nouvelle ZIP" achieves a level of smallness and thinness that is among the smallest for a zippered long wallet.

Surprisingly small and thin

While being one of the smallest of its kind as a zippered wallet, the "Nouvelle ZIP" is even thinner than the small leather flap long wallet "Nouvelle" (approx. 20mm thick), achieving an overwhelming compactness at just 13mm thick.

It is a mini long wallet that will change your lifestyle; once you use it, you won't be able to go back to large, heavy long wallets.

With dimensions of 165mm wide by 83mm high, it is nearly the same size as a 10,000 yen note (160mm wide by 76mm high), making it the absolute minimum size for a zippered long wallet.

Minimalist and luxurious

Small wallets can often end up looking cheap. When too much emphasis is placed on size and weight reduction, costs are often cut by using thin leather or omitting the lining, resulting in a wallet that feels flimsy.

The "Nouvelle ZIP" is crafted with a luxurious feel, pouring the bespoke leather manufacturing expertise that Philosophy has cultivated over many years into high-quality Japanese leather.

While it uses soft, shrink leather that fits comfortably in the hand as its main material, it is reinforced with appropriate core materials to ensure it doesn't lose its shape over time, and the interior uses a firm embossed leather.

Despite its size, this is a wallet where you can feel the high-quality texture of genuine leather and the excellence of the craftsmanship.

Convenient back pocket

We added a large pocket to the outer back.

The pocket is 150mm wide, making it very convenient for temporarily storing receipts or tickets.

Because the back pocket is seamlessly connected to the wallet body, thickness is kept to a minimum, resulting in a discreet and smart appearance.

Bills can be separated into two compartments

We have combined the frequent request to "keep bills in two separate compartments" with the need for a smaller wallet through a unique design.

With bill compartments located both in front of and behind the coin pocket, you can use it flexibly, such as by separating your bills, or separating your bills from your receipts.

The gusset without seams is a design inherited from Philosophy’s long-selling wallet, "Fleur."

By having no seams in the gusset, paper money can be inserted all the way to the back, contributing to the wallet's compactness.

The part separating the bills from the coins is not fixed and moves freely, ensuring that even if the number of bills increases, they can still be inserted all the way.

The secret of a zipper that doesn't snag bills

The biggest concern when using a small zippered wallet is: will the zipper damage my paper money?

To balance the wallet's small size with ease of zipper use, the "Nouvelle ZIP" uses the [YKK Excella No. 2 zipper], which is rare for a wallet.

Compared to the zippers typically used in standard long wallets (No. 3 or No. 5), the No. 2 zipper has narrower metal teeth and a smaller slider, making it less likely to snag on paper money.

Also, the narrower metal teeth allow for an overwhelming thinness, with the body at 11mm and 13mm including the back pocket.

The size of the wallet body was adjusted in 1mm increments while repeatedly verifying ease of use.

Easy access to your important cards

We have added a pocket specifically for your important "VIP cards" in a prominent location once you open the zipper: at the front of the coin pocket.

This pocket can hold 2 to 3 cards.

Store your frequently used "VIP cards" in this VIP seat.

There are two card pockets at the inner back, each of which can store about 3 cards layered, for a total of approximately 6 cards.

The card pockets have generous width, allowing for cards that are slightly larger than credit cards to be stored.

Less noticeable card indentations over time

There are no card pockets on the front of the body.

This prevents the outlines of cards or coins from showing on the outside, so there is no deformation of the leather even with long-term use.

Overwhelmingly easy-to-use coin pocket

When you open the zipper, you'll find a large-capacity coin pocket that opens wide.

Not just coins, but bills and cards are also visible at a glance.

Overwhelming large capacity. It’s no problem even if you put this many coins in (though it will get heavy).

The coin pocket does not have a zipper, but it is designed so that coins will not leak into other compartments as long as the outer zipper is closed, so please rest assured.

Reliable quality

We use Japanese genuine leather (cowhide) and each piece is produced by craftsmen in Japan.

The interior is also all genuine leather, so there is no fuzzing on the reverse side or degradation of the interior over time.

Because it is produced in-house, we can also provide prompt after-care, such as repairs for metal parts.
