The "Nouvelle" series, named after the French word for "new."

This long wallet was designed from scratch to establish a new standard for Philosophy long wallets.

It is a compact wallet designed to fit into small bags and cater to the cashless trend.

The small zippered long wallet, "Nouvelle ZIP," achieves some of the smallest dimensions and thinnest profiles among all zippered long wallets.

Surprisingly small and thin

While the "Nouvelle ZIP" is among the smallest in the zippered category, it also features an impressively compact thickness of 13mm, making it even thinner than our small leather flap long wallet, the "Nouvelle" (approx. 20mm thick).

Once you use this wallet, you will never want to go back to a large, heavy long wallet; it is a mini long wallet that will change your lifestyle.

At nearly the same size as a 10,000 yen banknote (160mm wide x 76mm high), it measures 165mm wide x 83mm high, making it the minimum size required for a zippered long wallet.

Minimalist and luxurious

Small wallets can often look cheap. If a manufacturer uses thin leather or skips linings to save costs in pursuit of smaller and lighter designs, the wallet will end up looking inexpensive.

The "Nouvelle ZIP" uses high-quality Japanese leather, crafted with the bespoke manufacturing expertise Philosophy has cultivated over many years to ensure a luxurious finish.

While it uses soft, supple shrink leather as the main material, it is reinforced with appropriate interlining so it will not lose its shape over long-term use, and features a firm, embossed leather for the interior.

Though small, this wallet offers the high-quality feel and craftsmanship of genuine leather.

Convenient back pocket

We have added a large pocket to the outer back side.

The pocket is 150mm wide, making it very convenient for temporarily storing receipts, tickets, and the like.

Because the back pocket is seamlessly integrated with the main body, the thickness is kept to a minimum, resulting in a smart, unobtrusive appearance.

Separates bills into two compartments

Through our unique structure, we have reconciled the frequent request to "keep bills in two separate compartments" with the need for a compact wallet.

Because there are two bill slots—one in front and one behind the coin pocket—you can use them flexibly, such as by separating bills or separating bills from receipts.

The seamless gusset is a design inherited from Philosophy’s long-selling "Fleur" wallet.

By removing seams from the gusset, bills fit securely deep inside, allowing for a more compact wallet size.

The divider between the bills and coins is not fixed, allowing it to move freely so that even when you have many bills, they can still be pushed all the way in.

The secret to a zipper that doesn't catch on bills

When using a small zippered wallet, the biggest concern is often: "Will the zipper damage my bills?"

To balance the compact size of the wallet with the ease of use of the zipper, the "Nouvelle ZIP" adopts the [YKK Excella No. 2 zipper], which is rare for wallets.

Compared to the zippers commonly used in standard long wallets (No. 3 or No. 5), the No. 2 zipper has narrower metal teeth and a smaller slider size, making it much less likely to catch on your bills.

Additionally, because the metal teeth are narrower, the body thickness is limited to just 11mm, or 13mm including the back pocket, achieving an overwhelmingly slim profile.

The dimensions of the wallet were adjusted down to the millimeter while repeatedly checking for usability.

Easier access to important cards

We have added a pocket dedicated to your most important "VIP cards" in a prominent location when the zipper is opened, right on the front of the coin compartment.

This pocket can hold 2–3 cards.

Store your most frequently used "VIP cards" in this VIP seat.

There are two card pockets at the back of the interior, each capable of holding three cards, for a total capacity of approximately 6 cards.

The card pockets have extra width, allowing you to store cards that are slightly larger than a standard credit card.

Less visible card impressions over time

There are no card pockets on the front of the body.

This prevents the impression of cards or coins from showing on the outer surface, so the leather will not deform even after long-term use.

Incredibly easy-to-use coin compartment

When you open the zipper, you'll find a large-capacity coin compartment that opens wide.

It provides a clear view of your coins, as well as bills and cards.

An overwhelmingly large capacity. You won't have any issues even if you store this many coins (though it will become heavy).

Although there is no zipper on the coin compartment itself, please rest assured that it is designed so that coins will not leak into other spaces while the outer zipper is closed.

Reliable quality

We use genuine Japanese leather (cowhide) and produce each item one by one with our own artisans within Japan.

Since the entire interior is made of genuine leather, there is no fuzzy shedding from the backing or interior degradation over time.

Because we produce our own goods, we can provide prompt after-care, including repairs for metal parts.
