The "Nouvelle" series, meaning "new" in French.

This long wallet was designed from scratch to set a new standard for Philosophy long wallets.

It is a compact wallet that fits into small bags and adapts to the cashless trend.

The small zippered long wallet "Nouvelle ZIP" achieves one of the smallest and thinnest sizes for a zippered long wallet.

Surprisingly small and thin

While the "Nouvelle ZIP" is in the smallest class of zippered wallets, it is even thinner than our small leather flap long wallet "Nouvelle" (approx. 20mm thick), achieving an overwhelming compactness with a thickness of 13mm.

It is a mini long wallet that will change your lifestyle; once you use it, you will never want to go back to a large, heavy long wallet.

At 165mm wide by 83mm high, it is almost the same size as a 10,000 yen bill (160mm wide by 76mm high), making it the minimum required size for a zippered long wallet.

Minimalist and luxurious

Small wallets can often look cheap. If one focuses too much on miniaturization and weight reduction by using thin leather or omitting linings to cut costs, the result is a wallet that feels inexpensive.

The "Nouvelle ZIP" features a high-quality, Japanese-made leather construction, utilizing the bespoke leather manufacturing techniques that Philosophy has cultivated over many years to ensure a luxurious finish.

While the main material is a soft, shrink-embossed leather that fits comfortably in the hand, it is reinforced with appropriate core materials to prevent loss of shape over long-term use, and the interior uses a firm, embossed leather.

Even though it is small, this wallet allows you to feel the high-quality texture and craftsmanship of genuine leather.

Convenient back pocket

We have added a large pocket to the outer back side.

The pocket is 150mm wide, making it very convenient for temporarily storing receipts or tickets.

Since the back pocket is seamlessly integrated with the main body, the thickness is kept to a minimum, resulting in a discreet and smart appearance.

Split your banknotes into two compartments

Responding to many requests received during past wallet orders to "have two compartments for banknotes" while keeping the wallet small, we have achieved both with a unique structure.

Because there are two banknote compartments—one in front of and one behind the coin pocket—you can use it flexibly, such as by separating banknotes, or separating banknotes and receipts.

The seamless gusset design inherits the aesthetic of Philosophy’s best-selling "Fleur" wallet.

By removing seams in the gusset, banknotes can be tucked in fully and securely, contributing to the wallet’s compact size.

The divider between the banknotes and coins is not fixed and moves freely, ensuring that even as the number of banknotes increases, they remain tucked away completely.

The secret to a zipper that doesn't catch banknotes

When using a small zippered wallet, the most concerning point is whether the zipper will damage the banknotes.

To balance the compactness of the wallet with the ease of use of the zipper, the "Nouvelle ZIP" adopts the [YKK Excella No. 2 zipper], which is rare for wallets.

Compared to the zippers used in general long wallets (No. 3 or No. 5 zippers), the No. 2 zipper has narrower teeth and a smaller slider, making it less likely to catch banknotes.

Furthermore, because the teeth are narrower, the wallet achieves an overwhelming thinness of 11mm for the main body, and 13mm including the back pocket.

The dimensions of the wallet body were adjusted by the millimeter while repeatedly checking for ease of use.

Easy access to important cards

We added a special pocket for your important "VIP cards" in a prominent location when the zipper is opened, on the front of the coin compartment.

This pocket holds 2–3 cards.

Store your most frequently used "VIP cards" in this VIP seat.

Inside at the back, there are two card pockets, each capable of holding about 3 cards stacked, for a total capacity of about 6 cards.

The card pockets have extra width, so they can accommodate cards slightly larger than a credit card.

Less visible impressions of cards over time

There are no card pockets on the front of the body.

This ensures that cards and coins do not leave imprints on the exterior, keeping the leather from warping even with long-term use.

Overwhelmingly easy-to-use coin compartment

When you open the zipper, you'll find a large-capacity coin compartment that opens wide.

Not just coins, but banknotes and cards are also immediately visible.

An overwhelming large capacity. It is no problem even if you put this many coins in (though it will become heavy).

The coin compartment does not have its own zipper, but it is designed so that coins will not leak into other spaces when the outer zipper is closed, so please rest assured.

We use genuine Japanese leather (cowhide) and each piece is produced by craftsmen in Japan.

The interior is also made entirely of genuine leather, so there is no peeling of lining or deterioration of the interior over time.

As we handle production in-house, we can quickly respond to after-sales care such as repairs for hardware.
