The "Nouvelle" series, meaning "new" in French.

This long wallet was designed from scratch to set a new standard for Philosophy's long wallets.

It is a compact wallet that fits into small bags and keeps up with the shift toward a cashless lifestyle.

The small zippered long wallet "Nouvelle ZIP" achieves one of the smallest and thinnest profiles possible for a zippered long wallet.

Surprisingly small and thin

While it is among the smallest zippered types, the "Nouvelle ZIP" achieves an overwhelmingly compact thickness of just 13mm—even thinner than our small leather flap long wallet "Nouvelle" (approx. 20mm thick).

Once you use it, you won't want to go back to large, heavy long wallets; it is a mini long wallet that will change your lifestyle.

Compared to a 10,000 yen bill (160mm wide x 76mm high), it is nearly identical in size (165mm wide x 83mm high), making it the absolute minimum size for a zippered long wallet.

Minimalist and luxurious

Small wallets often look cheap. When brands focus too much on miniaturization and weight reduction, they may use thin leather or omit linings, leading to a cheap finish.

The "Nouvelle ZIP" features high-quality Japanese leather, crafted with the bespoke manufacturing techniques Philosophy has cultivated over many years to ensure a luxurious finish.

While using soft, shrink leather that feels great in your hand for the main material, it is reinforced with appropriate core materials to prevent it from losing its shape, and features textured leather on the inside.

Though small, it is a wallet where you can feel the high quality of genuine leather and excellent craftsmanship.

Convenient back pocket

We have added a large pocket to the outside back.

The pocket is 150mm wide, making it very convenient for temporarily storing receipts or tickets.

Because the back pocket is seamlessly integrated with the wallet body, the thickness is kept to a minimum, resulting in a smart, discreet look.

Two compartments for bills

Based on the frequent request from our custom orders to "separate bills into two sections," we have achieved this feature alongside a compact design using a unique structure.

With bill compartments on both the front and back of the coin pouch, you can use them flexibly, such as by separating your bills or keeping bills and receipts apart.

The seamless gusset is a design inherited from our long-selling "Fleur" wallet.

By eliminating seams on the gusset, paper currency can be tucked in all the way, helping to keep the wallet compact.

The partition between the bills and coins is not fixed, allowing it to move freely so that even as the number of bills increases, they can be inserted fully.

The secret to a zipper that doesn't catch bills

The biggest concern when using a small zippered wallet is whether the zipper will damage your bills.

To balance the compact size of the "Nouvelle ZIP" with ease of use, we have adopted the [YKK Excella No. 2 zipper], which is rare for wallets.

Compared to the zippers used in standard long wallets (No. 3 or No. 5), the No. 2 zipper has a narrower width and a smaller slider, making it less likely to catch bills.

Furthermore, because the metal width is narrower, we have achieved an overwhelming thinness of 11mm for the body, and 13mm including the back pocket.

The size of the wallet body was adjusted in 1mm increments while repeatedly confirming ease of use.

Easy access to your important cards

We added a pocket specifically for your important "VIP cards" in a prominent spot when you open the zipper, right in front of the coin pouch.

This pocket holds 2–3 cards.

Keep your most frequently used "VIP cards" in this VIP seat.

There are two card pockets at the back of the interior, each capable of holding three cards stacked, for a total capacity of around 6 cards.

The card pockets have generous width, so you can even store cards that are slightly larger than a standard credit card.

Less likely to show card indentations over time

There are no card pockets on the front of the body.

This prevents the shape of cards or coins from showing through on the outside, ensuring the leather doesn't deform over long-term use.

Incredibly easy-to-use coin pouch

Opening the zipper reveals a large-capacity coin pouch space that opens wide.

Bills and cards are clearly visible in addition to the coins.

It has an overwhelming capacity. You can put plenty of coins in it (though it will become heavier) without any issues.

Although the coin pouch does not have its own zipper, it is designed so that when the outer zipper is closed, coins will not leak into other spaces, so please rest assured.

Safe and reliable quality

We use genuine Japanese leather (cowhide) and each piece is handmade by artisans in Japan.

Because the interior is also made of genuine leather, there is no fuzzy shedding or degradation of the lining over time.

As we produce these in-house, we can also provide prompt after-care services such as hardware repairs.
